Economic Update for Weekending 12th September 2008
There were some good results out for the UK last week, that said many of the numbers were still showing contraction albeit at a slower rate than expected. There was no surprise as the Bank of England left the rate untouched for another month.
In the US we had the non-farm payrolls on Friday which shocked the market at least temporarily.
As we look at the week ahead, we are really focused on the factory inflation reports and retail sales. The UK input inflation report has already been announced, coming in even lower than expected at -2.0 against -1.2% and -1.4% last time.
