Economic diary for week ending 24th October

We are entering the quietist week of the month in terms of economic reports. The emphasis will be more on what is said and the actions of governments and the financial sector.

There are three reports from the UK’s perspective which may have some baring on the pound, these being; the Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee’s minutes from the last interest rate meeting; the retail sales figures; and the 3rd quarters GDP figure. However, expectations are quite low on all of these, so we may not see much in the way of reaction if they come out in line.   Diary Monday 20th October

  • 13:30 US Jobless claims

  • 15:00 US House Price Index

Friday 24th October

  • 09:30 UK Prelim GDP figures for third quarter

  • 15:00 US Existing Home Sales
