Economic diary for week ending 28th September

We have sufficient number of economic reports to provide some volatility in the markets this week.

Of course the US housing market is seen as a major worry, thus the new and existing home sales will be watched carefully. These are released on Thursday and Tuesday respectively.

Wednesday sees the US durable goods report. Often an extremely variable report due to the transportation components (aircraft orders), traders tend to look at the core figure to get a better feel for the state of country’s order books. It is forecast that this figure will come in well down from last month (-0.8% against +3.7%).

Weekly diary for week ending 21st September 2007

We have a key week ahead in terms of economic data. We have inflation reports and an interest rate decision from the US, plus some key housing reports from the US and finally we have the triple witching on Friday. For those trading equities or currencies expect some high volatility.

Economic diary for week ending 14th September 2007

Unusually we have just the Producer Price Index out on its own this week, as opposed to the Consumer Price Index also being released. We would therefore expect a little more interest on it. As the figure has just been released as we are going to print, we note that it has come in effectively flat meaning there is little to move the market.
